Sunrise on Lake Superior...

I couldn't wait to show you five am here on the north shore.

We're drinking mini Dr. Peppers, check out is noon.
Listening to some Amos Lee.
For once we're not trying to cram a lot in a short amount of time.
I don't think we've ever left at check out, we've always left early.
Seagulls are outside making "we're hungry" noises, we got nothing for them.
They're really hungry judging by the sounds of it.
I almost feel bad.
They count on being fed by the guests here.
I think this morning its just us.

As Kat says....we b chillaxin.

Beautiful day...beautiful beautiful day.

I think I'm gonna shower, Joshy's going to get a fire going...
windows wide open so we can hear the waves and the gulls
yes we're popping in a movie, one we always seem to watch when
we're up here. Which one you ask.......ah P.S. I Love You.

Oh wow, that's right I leave for Oregon next week.
April travel has been berry berry good for and to me.

Brother Joshy's Get away SURPRISE!!!!!

HE LIED! But damn it was justifiable.
We're up on the north shore!
I guessed it. He said nope.

We come here as often as possible. It's about a four hour drive.
He said nothing I asked nothing as we drove.
I like surprises. I think I've said that before.
Only one way we can go and that's thru Duluth.

That was a given.
I waited.
Watched the signs.
He took a different highway around Duluth
to try to keep me off the trail.
It worked for about half a minute.

We counted well over 20 deer on the way up.

Stopped to get a couple of quick grab shots.

I've been to Spain twice, Germany and more than a handful
of states.......this is my favorite place in the whole world.
I say that not having seen the whole world.
I don't need to.

A chance to breathe. A whole lotta peace.

Life is good man. that's all I got to say.
This is called self care. When the rest of the world gets crazy...
take care of spirit. We are.

Remembering Summer and my best bud...

This is a repost...sort of. Let me introduce Joshy. He's my best bud in the three dimensional world.
As cliche as it sounds he's like a brother to me, no, he IS a brother to me.
Someone said to me friends are the family we get to choose.
(smiles @ Sandie) I think I've quoted you on this more than a few times.
This won't be the last.

I was missing summer, mostly I was missing our adventures today so I thought I'd post this.
It was the prelude to a few posts on here and another blog place I have.

He's coming over tonight to hang out....we're fighting the urge to hibernate this winter.

Joshy my little grasshopper, is now a reformed planner. Nods........I taught him well.

We came up here a week ago to take down my loon photos, was featured artist for a month at a cool azz cafe up the north shore. Got back home and both of us were just jone'zin to b back up there.

Guess what.

We're here. He messages me on Yahoo the night before last or something like that (what day of the week is it? wait I don't want to know. So, I wake up at six am to a message that says.........I booked it. Let's go. That's my bud!

It's effin outstanding. 20397845854932 pics later, and two more days to go......

Anyway.............maybe I'll actually do a travel blog like the old days. hahah Nah.......okay maybe.

Remembering the End of Summer Part II (September)

Yes I said it. The blog.
I'm going to try to do an actual blog old school not a multiply album.
(wah but the albums are so much easier, just not the same as a real blog are they? I know.)
I'll start with this even though I'll probably
end up dumping a bunch of pictures into one an album.
(way too many pictures to post here)

These days I'm working two full time jobs.
Yep. No boo hoo's you do what you have to do, and quite frankly I'm glad I have work.
Nuff said.

Brother Joshy is working full time now and almost done with school.
So these days are work hard to play hard.
That's just what we did.
Needed a travel fix.
Thnx to Joshy's poker winnings ........HA!

With gas prices the way they are, the economy the way it is,
not a bad thing to explore your home state. At least that's how we feel.

And as I said last post, Joshy's come a long way with his spontaneity,
so it was a pack a bag and go once we found out the BlueFin had rooms available.
We boogied up there after work. Was a nice drive. About four hours.
Rained most of the way, Martin Sexton coming thru the speakers...sokay it was dark.
I don't normally drive in the dark, and this presented its own challenges,
but I managed to do just fine.

Coolest thing ever, we were about 20 minutes from Bluefin,
on the side of the road were two deer.
A beautiful, majestic 12 point buck with antlers that were just magnificent,
and his doe standing beside him. No pictures. It was dark remember? : )

The BlueFin Inn is this fantastic place on Lake Superior.
Been there done the camping thing for years now.
Camping is fun, but camping is work.

Yes we jammied up, yes we opened laptops,
yes we closed them and had a few bevvies and enjoyed the night air,
don't think for one minute we stayed on those all night.
While it was too warm to light a fire in the fireplace,
our neighbors had one going.............nice.
The smell of a nice fire, no work.
Spent most of the night dodging raindrops on the balcony,
listening to the waves, the thunder, and more Sexton.

you can't beat that soft morning light. and hell yes I used the skin smoother option in Corel.

thing is, even without it in soft light......it does old skin a favor or two, this is without any retouching.

It is also owned by the hotel.

we had Reuben sandwiches, we missed the dark rye, otherwise they were great.




We're heading back up there in October, hopefully we'll hit the leaves changing just right.

Seems like fall is coming early......fingers are crossed.
