Bathroom Wall Literature 101

IMG_5421aB

"May today there be peace within.
May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.
May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content with yourself just the way you are.
Let this knowledge settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us."

Mother Teresa

Bathroom Wall Literature 101

I find it interesting ...
the things people write on bathroom walls.
Of course I photograph it.
More often than not it's offensive.
Sometimes it's quite moving.
This borders on offensive.
I won't apologize for it.
I photograph the world I see.
Not always what we see is kind.
I saw a video on You Tube yesterday.
It slayed me.
A woman throwing defenseless puppies into a river.
To kill them.
there are more videos like this.
more people like this.
it sickens me.

Maybe that makes this photograph
a little easier to swallow for
those of you who take offense to her verbage.

I want a click here button to make
horrific acts like that never happen again.
Even better a click here button to
make it so all horrific acts of violence
to people, to animals,
are something we know nothing of,
because they never happened
and never will.

On the Subject of Perspective

she would argue with us.
save the dishes for the morning.
we were well parented.
we knew that when at someone's house
when they fed you, you did the dishes.
it was the least you could do.

IMG_1543a

I didn't get it until I was much older.
But when I did, it just clicked.
It was a paradigm shift.
It wasn't about doing the dishes.
It was all about putting your hands
in that nice, warm, soapy water.
My mom says Granny called it aqua therapy.

for me it was not only the shift in perspective
 but recognizing the shift.

my point being ...
the way we see things is often times quite limited.
our perspective isn't the only one.
and sometimes all it takes
is one shift to see things completely differently.
But that usually requires one to be open,
and to consider the possibility
that their viewpoint isn't the only one that's right.
And that usually requires dropping ego.

paradigm shifts are cool.

One the Subject of Chaos

Living in continual chaos is exhausting, frightening.
The catch is that it's also very addictive.

Had he not moved into the wall space it would not have been the same.
It would have been just a wall with words.
It's the same with people isn't. People walk into our lives,
and we'll never be the same because they did.

I say this with a smile,
and a heart full of gratitude
for each and every person
who has and who will walk into my life.

How ...

are you?

How's ...?

Simple question.
It takes five seconds, possibly only three.
But man it can make all the difference in the world ...
That three second question.

People get so caught up in their own stuff.
Maybe they forget to.

You didn't.
forget to.
Thank you,
with all my heart thank you for asking every time you do.
It makes all the difference ...

IMG_5638a

If only someone would have stopped to ask him ...
I wonder if it would have made a difference.
I'm quite certain it would have.

There is an abundance of stupidity and ignorance in the world.
Sometimes you just have to step up
and make it unacceptable.

On the Subject of Want

IMG_6408a

are the decisions you make on a daily basis
aligning with the life you say you want?

at the end of the day
do your actions in all things
reflect that want?

For the Love of Joe ...

IMG_4942a

One of the best things about traveling so many
people consider the worst.  Having to sit next
to someone you don't know, suffer thru small talk
while really you'd like nothing better than to rest
your head against the window, yes window seat, score!
You booked that window seat so you could do just that. sleep.
You might even try to fake sleep while the plane loads
in order to avoid the dreaded conversation however it
doesn't quite work as adjustments need to be made,
things put away and before you know it you've exchanged
hello's and so it begins ...

What you didn't know was that a woman would
sit next to you with her husband to her left and tell
you the most incredible story about love, afterlife and
finding love again,  so incredible it would bring you to tears.

You shared your story.  As the two of you spoke,
you realized the reason you were sitting next to each other...

it was undeniable.

And in the end you were glad you wore your
cowboy hat, the one she noticed when she sat
down next to you and told you it reminded her
of home . That made you smile and feel warm.
Because you did, you asked her where that was
and the moment she answered you knew
the universe had so divinely placed you next
to this person, her story was the very one
you needed to hear and yours was a gift to her.

Each of you were a gift to the other.

On the Subject of Respect

a wall backgroundA

Respect, not only means honoring
the word no physically, it also
means honoring the word no verbally.

Inappropriate comments
that come with a smile and or laughter
under the guise of being a joke,
after boundaries have been clearly established
are not funny.
 It shows as much disrespect,
as touching someone without their permission.
